As part of our referral membership month and in celebration of IABC’s 50th anniversary, we are pleased to showcase one of our new members, Sonia Gill.
Sonia is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Business Administration, Marketing major, from the University of Winnipeg, where she is actively involved in the University of Winnipeg’s Business Administration Students’ Association as Co-Chair of their Entrepreneurship Conference.
With her anticipated graduation in April 2021, she is already interning as a Marketing Specialist with Efficiency Manitoba. Already an active volunteer, Sonia currently serves as a Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager with TechWPG as well as a Director of Administration at IABC Manitoba.
She credits Volunteer Manitoba’s Board Connect Program for making the connection to IABC Manitoba, where she joined as a member and became an active volunteer soon after. “I was looking for a way to get myself involved in a capacity that reflected my education and career,” says Sonia. “As a student, I think it’s crucial to continuously learn, network and focus on professional development— IABC gives you all of the resources to do exactly that, so I look forward to growing as a professional.”
She sought to volunteering as a constructive way of using her time and getting through the pandemic. Nevertheless, she enjoys her Taco Tuesdays too while at home!
Three fun facts about Sonia:
- “I like to travel. I have visited 18 different countries so far.”
- “I love reading. Rupi Kaur is my favourite Canadian poet.”
- “I enjoy board games.”
