1) Director of Administration

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates board meeting logistics
  • Maintains chapter documentation
  • Manages chapter business materials and official correspondence
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Helps train successor

Time Commitment: Moderate

Professional development opportunity: Offers an inside look at chapter management. This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with leaders to develop methods and procedures to strengthen the chapter.

 

2) Director of Finance

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the preparation and management of the chapter
  • Manages chapter financial accounts
  • Manages chapter financial policy
  • Coordinates year-end reporting
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Helps train successor

Time Commitment: Low

Professional development opportunity: This position offers the opportunity to perfect financial
planning and management, budgeting and organizational skills, in addition to providing some experience
in delegation.

 

3) Director of Marketing and Communications

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creates and manages chapter external/member yearly marketing & communication
    strategy
  • Creates, manages and measures communication channels
  • Recruits and leads Marketing and Communication Coordinator(s)
  • Coordinates all formal communication to members and prospects
  • Coordinates all community and media relations
  • Maintains Marketing and Communication budget, records and materials
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains Successor

Time Commitment: Moderate/High

Skill Requirements

  • Collaboration, social media management, project management, and strategic communications management.

Professional development opportunity: This position offers supervisory experience and the
opportunity to work with a team. You’ll get experience in developing an organizational marketing
plan as well as managing multiple communication outlets.

 

4) Communications & Marketing Coordinator(s):

Duties & Responsibilities: Each member of the committee will have a role assigned to them to clearly organize communications and marketing initiatives. However, everyone is also expected to work as a team and help each other. The team assists their Director and others by:

  • Planning and executing initiatives related to managing the chapter website
  • Assists in producing emails and a newsletter
  • Promotes chapter related events and news on social media
  • Help create a strong image bank
  • Additional tasks as needed.
  • Maintains Marketing and Communication budget, records and materials
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains Successor

Time Commitment: Moderate

Skill Requirements

  • Collaboration, and a combination of branding, social media, writing, photography.
  • Understanding how to create work that is in alignment with strategic communications.

 

5) Director of Membership & Networking:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creates and manages a new member recruitment plan
  • Creates and manages member retention plan.
  • Recruits and leads Membership Committee
  • Coordinates planning and implementation of member recruiting/networking events
  • Coordinates planning and implementation of event hospitality activity (1-2 events/year)
  • Creates, manages and communicates new and existing member benefits
  • Maintains member budget, records and materials
  • Works closely close to Student Liaison(s)
  • Conducts membership research
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains Successor

Time Commitment: Moderate

opportunity to work with a team of fellow communications professionals. You'll get marketing
and management experience, in addition to learning more about working with and developing
materials for members.

 

6) Director of Professional Development

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements the professional development strategy
  • Uses member research to identify topics, plans a 12-month calendar of events, and all
    related logistics.
  • Measures events through evaluations.
  • Recruits and leads PD Coordinator(s)
  • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications Director to ensure appropriate content
    for event promotions.
  • Manages events
  • Maintains PD budget, records and materials
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains Successor

Time Commitment: Moderate/High

8) PD & Events Coordinator(s)

Duties & Responsibilities: Each member of the committee will have a role assigned to them to clearly organize
Professional Development and Event activities. Under the Professional Development Director team
members will:

  • Help with the development of background materials to help Marketing develop promotions
    content for the group. This may include drafting creative briefs.
  • Coordinate and deliver logistics for events (e.g., organize welcome stations for events to
    ensuring all printing material is ready for the event).
  • Prepares any background materials for events e.g., participant lists for check in and
    determine members and non-members for networking purposes.
  • Helps develop event checklists and works with Director to delegate tasks at events.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Trains Successor

Time Commitment: Moderate

9) Director of Community Partnerships & Sponsorships

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Establish fundraising and sponsorship.
  • Networks and establishes relationships with community and business leaders.
  • Coordinates management of chapter sponsorship program.
  • Designs sponsorship materials.
  • Recruits and leads the Sponsorship Committee – Identifies new volunteers, follows through on potential volunteers sent to them by others, leads committee meetings, oversees activities of committee members, identifies and trains a successor. Organizes and leads committee meetings.
  • Manages and tracks community partnerships & sponsorships
  • Ensures sponsors are recognized appropriately.
  • Attend meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains successor

10) Director of Community Partnerships & Sponsorships

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a volunteer recruitment and retainment strategy.
  • Recruit and retain volunteers.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities
  • Develops and maintains a volunteer database
  • Coordinates volunteer appreciation events
  • Attends meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains successor

11) Director of Career Development

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and implements an accreditation strategy for IABC members
  • Coordinates all accreditation and standards activities as required.
  • Oversees volunteer recruitment for the judging of IABC award programs (i.e., Gold Quill,
    Silver Leafs, etc.).
  • Promotes IABC’s Code of Ethics among members and handle ethics-related inquiries.
  • Attends meetings (e.g., board meetings)
  • Trains successor

12) Dare to Lead Coordinator (NEW)

This is an exciting NEW position. IABC Manitoba will host a Leadership Event for IABC Leaders from across Western Canada Chapters. With help of the IABC – Canada West Region (CWR) we will develop a dynamic event for approximately 75 people to develop their skills and gain the opportunity to see the best Winnipeg and Manitoba has to offer.

Duties & Responsibilities (will be developed further in June) some may include: 

  • Working with CWR and IABC MB Executive to:
    • Creating an event strategy for implementation.
    • Lead the implementation of the event strategy
    • Seek sponsorships and partners
    • Assist in forming and co-chairing with the Executive a Working Committee
    • Assist in evaluating the event
