IABC offers a variety of awards designed to showcase the work of communications professionals at the local, national and international levels.

Feel like you could measure up? Entering awards is a great way to hone your skills, beef up your resume and show the world you know communications. Here are the awards open to IABC members.

Gold Quill Awards

For more than 40 years, the IABC Gold Quill Awards have recognized excellence in strategic communications, and is the only awards program that honours the dedication, innovation and passion of communicators on a global scale.

Since 2008, more than 4,451 projects have been entered in the Gold Quill Awards and hundreds of winners have emerged to claim their prize. Gold Quill winners are celebrated each year at The Excellence Awards Gala at the IABC World Conference.

Silver Leaf Awards

The Silver Leaf Awards are a chance for communicators working in all disciplines to receive industry recognition for outstanding work. In addition to earning professional recognition, you’ll receive valuable feedback on your submission from a panel of experienced evaluators.

Chairman's Award

Every year, the Chairman’s Award is granted to IABC members who through their volunteer efforts, have had a significant, positive impact on the organization. Communicators recognized with this award have gone above and beyond in their volunteer roles and have been selected by the International Executive Board (IEB) Chair for their excellent work. Any current IABC volunteer member who has been active for the past five years can be nominated for this award. The award is presented annually at IABC’s World Conference.

Chapter Management Awards

The IABC Chapter Management Awards program recognizes the leadership, management, creativity and teamwork of IABC chapter leaders around the world every year. Various chapters across the globe can submit their entries into as many categories they find suitable to highlight their achievements and have a chance to win an award of excellence or merit in each category. A small, medium, large and international chapter of the year are awarded too. In addition, individual IABC leaders are honoured in the categories of Chapter Leader of the Year and Regional Leader of the Year.

Rae Hamlin Award

This Rae Hamlin Award is presented annually at the IABC World Conference in honour of Rae Hamlin, a long-time advocate of IABC’s prior accreditation program and the new Global Standard of the Communications Profession. Recipients are selected for their strong commitment to the Global Standard and IABC’s mission of sharing best global communication practices that help promote ethical and effective performance standards for our profession.

Master Communicator Designation

The IABC Canada Master Communicator designation (MC) is a lifetime achievement designation and the highest honour IABC Canada can bestow on an individual member.

Fellow Designation

The IABC Fellow designation is the highest honour IABC awards to its members. Only 58 of the world’s top communicators have earned this designation for their exceptional career achievements, writing and/or speaking engagements and contributions to the communications profession and wider community.

IABC Manitoba Volunteer of the Year

Ever year, IABC Manitoba proudly presents a volunteer of the year award to one outstanding individual who has gone above and beyond to support IABC’s mission to “meet the professional development and networking needs of our members, promote and recognize effective business communication, raise the profile of the profession and provide resources and career support.”
