An award-winning journalist and communications professional, Leah Janzen joined the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in 2016. In her position as Regional Director, Leah is responsible for communication, media, public and government affairs. In recent months, her role has been to lead the communications function during a period of transformational change in the health system; launching and evolving a public awareness campaign, ensuring timely and transparent media relations and directing internal communications for a staff complement of nearly 28,000.

Prior to the WRHA, Leah spent nearly a decade at the University of Manitoba in the External Relations division, completing her tenure there as Associate Vice-President, Outreach & Engagement. There, she led a team recognized with over 40 local, national, and international awards for its innovative and creative marketing campaigns and communications efforts.

A writer at heart, Leah began her career as a journalist with the Winnipeg Free Press where her work was recognized by numerous awards including a Canadian Newspaper Award nomination.
