Description:

Manitoba Agriculture is looking for a marketing strategist who could support the department’s industry and investment attraction work by planning, creating (or facilitating), implementing, and evaluating the department’s marketing and communications activities at the local, national, and international level to target and attract industrial investments to Manitoba.

Responsibilities:

  • Connects regularly with ADMs, Directors, and Managers with responsibilities for leading or supporting industry and investment attraction strategy and execution Analyze requests for creative support, assess creative plans, and strategies.
  • Solicits input and supports the development of industrial development and investment attraction activities.
  • Provides technical expertise to support the Industry Development team by providing strategic options, comprehensive advice, and recommendations on marketing and promotion at the strategy and tactical levels.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in communications/advertising/marketing. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience creating strategic marketing content (website, videos, podcasts, social media, newsletters, marketing materials) and other communication activities.
  • Media relations experience, including responding to media information requests, coordinating interviews, developing speaking notes/key messages, and building media packages.
  • Ability to lead strategic planning activities to create and implement targeted marketing campaigns in a range of media forms.
  • Knowledge of current research and best practices in communications.
  • Having excellent written communication skills and experience assisting professionals to produce documents that convey complex, technical content in an easy-to-understand, creative manner.
  • Having excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to actively listen and convey ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information through the use of sound judgment and political acumen.
  • Having strong interpersonal skills for the purposes of building and maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of people, groups, and organizations.
  • Having strong leadership skills to guide and manage the work of others.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced and results-driven environment

 Desired Criteria:

  • Ability to develop and/or deliver media and communications skills, training sessions, and/or workshops.
  • Member of a marketing association.
