Under the direction of Strategy & Content Supervisor, will develop, create and edit content in support of internal and external stakeholder communications, media relations, community investment and social media channels.

Responsibilities:

– Transform messaging into effective written copy for various mediums that aligns with brand identity and corporate objectives.

– Coordinate and develop clear, engaging and accurate multi-media content for internal news site (Hydrogram), including articles and photography on the activities of the corporation and its employees that may deal with complicated or sensitive information; and craft/edit appropriately for external and social media

– Support technical requirements of internal news site, including research and development of tools and technology to maintain or enhance reach and employee engagement/interest.

– Assist, as required, with other forms of internal and external communications and engagement activities including, event planning, preparing communications materials, photography, videography, and responding to routine customer inquiries.

– May also assist with the development of external News Releases under the guidance of the Media Relations Officer or Director of Corporate Communications on occasion.

– May assist with monitoring the corporation’s social media channels including posting of content and responding to questions.

– Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of Manitoba Hydro’s operations, business, and issues.

– Demonstrate ability to understand and apply corporation’s communications standards to work.

Qualifications:

– A two-year diploma in Creative Communications or a related field from a technical college of recognized standing plus a minimum of one year related experience, preferably in a large corporate or PR agency setting.

OR

– One-year related certificate with course work in journalism/PR and a minimum of two years related experience, preferably in a large corporate or PR agency setting

– Demonstrated strong written communication skills in a variety of writing disciplines along with good oral communication skills.

– Demonstrated experience with delivery of effective corporate communications in electronic and print formats.

– Ability to organize multiple projects.

– Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.

– Working knowledge of communications theory, including public relations, journalism and advertising. Working knowledge of graphic art design principles, video production, print and web publishing.

– Knowledge and competency in word-processing, web-publishing and social media.

– Ability to work after-hours and on weekends as required.

– Willingness to travel throughout province, often to remote locations.

– Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence.

Salary Range:

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $26.32-$35.10 Hourly, $50,443.12-$67,265.12 Annually.
