The Health Sciences Centre Foundation is looking for a sophisticated digital marketer who can produce inspiring content for all media and generate sustained enthusiasm for our work as we seek to grow our donor base. Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, the successful candidate will be a strong, versatile writer with a deep understanding of how to leverage digital content to get people to engage and act.

 

General Responsibilities

Writing

The Marketing Officer will be a versatile writer and editor whose assignments will include, but not be limited to:

  • Social media writing
  • Feature story writing for web and print
  • Correspondence
  • Advertising writing
  • Event materials (program booklets, sponsorship materials, etc.)
  • Speaking notes
  • Content for the Donor Celebration Centre, an electronic photo installation at HSC Winnipeg

Digital Marketing

The Marketing Officer will come to us with expertise in digital marketing. Assignments will include, but not be limited to:

  • Social media design, posting, and monitoring
  • Develop and implement social media strategy (including paid strategies)
  • Post all new content to the Foundation website, including text, photos, videos, and audio files (experience with WordPress required)
  • Implement and troubleshoot OLX in cooperation with Manager of Database and Research, and with guidance from Blackbaud
  • Reporting on website analytics, user behaviour, and search engine optimization
  • Analyze and report on e-newsletter performance data (e.g., open rates, unsubscriptions, shares, etc.)
  • Post content to our onsite Donor Celebration Centre (training will be provided)
  • Take photos and short videos for website (external professionals will be hired for more complex/substantive assignments)

 

Specific Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

  • Contribute to overall Marketing and Communications strategy and work plan
  • Write articles, speaking notes, ad copy, and other text as assigned
  • Manage the Foundation’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and potential new channels, e.g., Clubhouse) and website update calendar
  • Write, design, and post all social media content
  • Post all web content; troubleshoot website issues as required
  • Take photos and video at Foundation events and onsite as required
  • Organize and manage the Foundation’s digital assets (photos and videos)
  • Develop social media advertising and Google Ads campaigns
  • Monitor social media regularly for relevant references to our work
  • Review social media, e-newsletter, and website engagement and analytics, and recommend appropriate responses to improve performance
  • Develop content calendar and produce content for the onsite Donor Celebration Centre (onsite photo/video donor appreciation installation)

 

Qualifications

  • Education/training in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or other related field(s)
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a marketing, communications, or multimedia role, ideally in a non-profit environment
  • Ability to write audience-centred content that is accurate, fascinating, and inspiring
  • Experience with event-related communications (writing speaking notes, scripts, etc.)
  • Experience with posting content seamlessly to a WordPress website
  • Appreciation and respect for patient privacy and confidentiality in a health care setting, including the ability to conduct professional, sensitive interviews
  • Experience with Adobe Suite for light design and video editing work
  • Workplace experience with social media, electronic newsletters, and Google Ads
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Good photography skills
  • Good video skills (shooting and basic editing)
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Experience with Online Express (Blackbaud) an asset
